Have you been looking for a new SUV but can’t make up your mind? The 2017 Jeep Wrangler and 2017 Honda CR-V are both popular options, but the Jeep Wrangler far outshines Honda’s compact crossover in terms of genuine SUV performance and off-road capabilities. Get the full scoop here from Findlay CJDR of Wilsonville.

Off-Road Performance Capabilities

If you’re looking for an SUV that looks and acts the part and can take you off the beaten path without batting an eye, the Jeep Wrangler has you covered:

  • Jeep Wrangler– Every rendition of the Jeep Wrangler comes decorated with Jeep’s Trail Rated® marker. You’ll have a choice between two different 4×4 systems—the Command-Trac® and Rock-Trac® systems, as well as standard hill start assist and hill descent control. Opt for the Wrangler Rubicon to get Tru-Lok® locking differentials and a high-pinion Dana 44 front axle.
  • Honda CR-V– The Honda CR-V comes is not a truck-based SUV, which means it doesn’t even feature a body-on-frame design. Its standard drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and even if you upgrade to the all-wheel drive system you won’t get the rugged capabilities of the Wrangler’s 4×4 systems. The CR-V also lacks the other rugged all-terrain features and systems that come standard or optional on the Wrangler.

Powertrain Specs

Performance doesn’t stop with what an SUV can do off-road, though. When it comes to sheer power, the 2017 Jeep Wrangler again pulls ahead of the 2017 Honda CR-V with significantly more power under the hood:

  • Jeep Wrangler– Every version of the Jeep Wrangler comes standard with a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine that comes matched to a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain generates a commanding output of 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.
  • Honda CR-V– The CR-V is offered with two different engines, but neither of them meet the Wrangler in terms of performance. The base engine on the CR-V is a 2.4L four-cylinder engine that makes just 184 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. Even if you move up to the available turbocharged 1.5L inline-four engine, you’ll only get 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque.
