Dodge Journey: Performance & Power
The 2019 Dodge Journey comes with a 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 I-4 engine that has serious stamina and power. To be exact, it produces 173 horsepower. For those who want added performance, there’s also the available 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine that generates 283 horsepower.
The 2.4L engine has a 4-speed automatic transmission that puts you in control of your driving experience. The 3.6L engine, on the other hand, comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that optimizes efficiency and may allow you to drive up to 500 miles on a single tank of gas.1
This cruising range is achieved during highway driving with front-wheel drive. However, if you need to improve your handling capabilities—especially on snowy roadways—you might want to equip your SUV with the available all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
The 2019 Journey has a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 pounds with the 2.4L engine. With the 3.6L engine and Trailer Tow Group, that goes up to 2,500 pounds when properly equipped.
To keep you in command of your towing experience, the Journey includes standard Trailer Sway Control. This feature works with Electronic Stability Control to keep your trailer steady even on the toughest of trails. It works by adjusting brake pressure and engine throttle as needed to keep trailer sway under control.
Infotainment Technology in the 2019 Dodge Journey
Even when you hit the open road, you’ll be able to stay connected from inside the cabin of the Dodge Journey.
You can do this with the available Uconnect® 3 infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. The touchscreen is where you can change the radio station or see incoming phone calls from your wirelessly connected smartphone. Wireless connectivity is part of the available Uconnect® Voice Command with Bluetooth® system.
Uconnect® 3 NAV is available, as well, and can help you reach your next destination with ease. This fully integrated navigation system includes audible turn-by-turn directions, points of interest, and Lane Guidance.
The Uconnect® 3 NAV system also includes Uconnect® Voice Command, which allows you to place a call without touching your phone. Hands-free texting can also ensure that you don’t miss important updates by reading your text messages to you through your car’s speakers.
Dodge Journey: Safety Features
The 2019 Dodge Journey has plenty of useful features to help you stay safe and secure behind the wheel. The ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera, for example, is a great tool for backing up safely. It even comes with gridlines to help you guide your vehicle in the right direction.
The ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera works alongside the available ParkSense® Rear Park Assist feature. These sensors detect the amount of pace between you and an object behind you. If it senses you’re approaching too closely, it emits an audible warning to stop.
Another feature we like for collision mitigation is Brake Assist. This feature uses sensors to detect situations where you need to stop suddenly. If necessary, it boosts the power to your brakes so you can stop on a dime when it really counts.
2019 Dodge Journey Trim Levels
Before you can drive off in your new 2019 Dodge Journey, you’ll want to be sure to choose the right trim level. This can ensure that you have everything you need for your excursions around town. The Journey has three configurations for you to choose from:
Dodge Journey SE
The SE trim level of the Dodge Journey sets a strong foundation and comes standard with the 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 I-4 engine. The 3.6L engine is also available as an upgrade. Inside the cabin, this trim level features a 4.3-inch touchscreen in the center stack, although, with a package add-on, you can exchange it for the Uconnect® 3 system with the 8.4-inch touchscreen.
The ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera comes standard, so you can expect this safety feature on the SE trim level. You can also outfit your Journey with the available SE Blacktop Package, which includes a Gloss Black grille, lower fascia, and exterior mirrors. This package upgrades you to the Touring suspension, as well, and comes with 17-inch Gloss Black wheels.
Crossroad Dodge Journey Trim Level
The Dodge Journey Crossroad trim level comes standard with the Uconnect® 3 infotainment system and the 8.4-inch full-color touchscreen. It also features a performance-tuned suspension, available heated seats, and an available power sunroof that lets in plenty of sunlight and fresh air.
This is the first trim level where Uconnect® Voice Command with Bluetooth® wireless smartphone connectivity comes standard.
Dodge Journey GT Trim Level
The GT trim comes with the powerful 3.6L V6 engine and smooths out your ride with a high-performance suspension. This configuration features several additional convenience features like a remote start system and standard heated seats.
One of our favorite upgrades you get with the GT trim is the premium audio system with six speakers, a subwoofer, and a 368-watt amplifier. Go ahead and add some flair to your exterior, as well, with the available Blacktop Package. This lets you stand out with Gloss Black exterior accents and impressive 19-inch Gloss Black wheels.
